Slip...Slip...Slip N SLIDE!!!!!

On Thursday's it is normally our park night and we eat out with my dad and my sister but not always!  I don't really have a lot of time because Sarah has to be in bed at 8!!  So this past Thursday was my little sister's 8th grade award thingy, she got an award for having a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0 and most of the year I am pretty sure she held a 4.0!!!  Go SIS!  Anyways sooooo Thursday's are normally our park day BUT since we were going to April's award thing we didn't have time to go...BUT I had to do something because it was sooooooooo HOT outside and I wanted Sarah to have fun!  So what did I do I brought out the slip N slide now last year I couldn't get Sarah to use this and even now I still can't but I had a little solution!!  I set up the slip n slide and put her orange slide at the beginning so she would slide down the slide and then slide down the slip n slide!!  She was having fun but more that she was just playing in the water and not necessarily on the slip n slide!  We had so much fun and when we went to April's award thing Sarah was such a good girl she was so well behaved and I was smiling and happy because she made me a proud mama!!!  Of course with my daughter she always makes me proud!  I love her so much!

McCordsville Park

So today I took Sarah to this cute little park in McCordsville!  Sarah loves the park and this one is a nice one because it is never busy AND it really is nice!  Sarah loves whatever park we go, but today she kept going down the spiral slide and didn't want to get off of it but she eventually did and made her way to the swings, but for some reason four of the swings were missing and so she had to swing on the only two swings which happened to be the baby swings!  It was ok though she just loves the swings!  We stayed for a little bit and it was very fun but HOT!!!!

A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks

So I have seen A Walk To Remember the movies a million times!  But I had never read the book, and you know what I loved the book so much more than the movie AND I loved the movie!!  There was something just so much more romantic about the book than the movie.  Jamie and Tom spend a lot more time together in the book than in the movie and it is just so much more romantic which I know I already said!  Even though I knew how the book would end because I knew it was similar to the movie and I still cried!  It was a wonderful read and I am now two books down for Nicholas Sparks...I am trying to read them all, the next one I am going to start in A Message in A bottle!

Boat Ride

So my dad has a boat and it is one of Sarah's favorite things!!!  She loves loves loves everything about the boat.  She always wants to go out on it and is always asking my dad to take her fishing!  She has a little fishing pole just her size and she thinks it is so cool!  She loves wearing her life jacket and honking the horn on the boat!  So we went out this Tuesday night which is normally movie night but instead we had a nice trip out onto the boat because it was SOOOO nice outside.

The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

Ok so when I worked at Harrison Hill they gave all the employee's this book I can't remember for what reason, but we got it.  I have had it for more than a year and I just read it!  So it is all about knowing the "secret" to get ahead in life.  Apparently the secret is the law of attraction.  In this book it says if you want it the universe has to give it to you...???  I mean really????  It is so stupid, I mean I believe this people may believe that but in my opinion these people are getting these things because they worked hard!!!!!!  It talks about money, disease and life and all of it will go well if you know the secret.  I finished the book but I don't know if I would recommend it to anyone because I think it is just so stupid!

Sporting Event

So I had the opportunity to go to this "young single adults" activity and it was fun I made two new friends which is always nice because I miss my best friend so much!  As I was thinking about it I am just not ready to date!  I loved my x-husband a lot!  I mean I said from the time I was 15 that I was going to marry him someday.  Although I know I have made my fair share of mistakes in my marriage I never thought that those things, our problems couldn't be worked through and that is where my hurt and my lack of self-esteem come in.  I am so so so so so hurt by the events that happened in 2009!  I miss him, the cute little family we had, my in-laws...YES I LOVED MY IN-LAWS, no one could ask for a better mother-in-law let me tell you!  So as I am sitting or playing at this thing all I can think about are the things that he did that made me so happy!  Or the things that I always did or that he did that I loved!  He loves loves loves mt dew...at least he did I don't know if he still does since it has been 10 months since he has left, but anyways I would LOVE to buy mt dew from the store!  Even if we really couldn't afford it, it made him happy!  There are so many little things that I still miss that makes me not ready to date and I am ok with that I mean I was really in love with him, even if certain people think my actions spoke differently.  But who doesn't have problems in their marriages I mean really??  Sooo from taking my divorce class you know the Children Cope with Divorce they show you this picture of rushing into relationships when your damaged and what not and I just don't and won't go into a relationship damaged!  I wanted to be married to my x for all eternity, but somehow God has a different plan for me even though I hate every minute of it!  I hate not seeing Sarah on ALL the holidays I hate not having my companion anymore, I just hate a lot of things about divorce and I am hurt.  I am still attending church and even though my testimony was ROCKED to the core last year, I am sure we can all guess why, I am still holding strong to the iron rod!  I am now paying my tithing which is something he and I struggled with, I am now doing my own Family Home Evening with Sarah every monday at 7 (it used to be so much fun, in my opinion, with the family, my old family), Sarah prays every night, I always always always take her to church on my weekends, unless we are on vacation, we bless our food, and do family prayers!  For a single mom I am doing pretty good.  But it is still hard!  I have never had the priesthood in my home and neither has Sarah and I thought that was going to change but you know sometimes the things we think are not always what we expect BUT I know it is out there for her and for I!  I want to find a man that can show Sarah what the priesthood is all about!  Now her Gpa (her dad's dad) holds it and I know he sets a very good example for her everyday, even when she isn't looking I am sure he is!  I love this church...but then again maybe when I get this thing over with I will be ready because I do want the priesthood I want the temple marriage and my children to be sealed to me for all eternity...and I will figure out a way for Sarah to be sealed to me!  But the activity was really fun we played beach volleyball, I ate sand and got the sand all in my shirt and pants and you know you are in front of a whole bunch of people so you can't pick it out!!!  LOL and then I went to watch everyone play softball!!  There were a lot of people on each team I didn't play I just cheered!  It was really fun though and I love my two new friends that I made!

April's Spring Concert!

So my little sister is in orchestra (she plays the violin) and she called me Wednesday and asked me if I was going to come to her concert.  I was like uh yea sure I will go, it was much more fun when I played in the orchestra instead of being in the audience, but I love my sister and so I went.  Sarah was so cute and after every song she would be the best clapper ever!  She wanted to make sure that her Auntie April could hear her loud and clear!!!!!  Sarah loves April so much and it is soooo sweet!  So the concert ends and April's teacher announces that it is tradition for the 8th graders to meet at Culver's after there last concert.  As we were leaving I asked April do you want to go to Culver's with all of your friends and she quickly said, "NOO!!!  I want to go home and watch Grey's!"  This is why I love my little sister!!

The Shack by William P. Young

This book was a great book and I would suggest it to anyone because of the message that it sends out to people.  I do not believe in the Trinity so it was hard to relate to it in that sense BUT the entire book was wonderful!!  It helped me understand more about Jesus and why he sacrificed his own life for all of us, he couldn't pick which ones to send to hell and which ones could go to Heaven so instead he sent himself, the best act of love EVER!!!!  I have been really hurt by people that I have loved in my life and although I am not ready quit yet to forgive them this book helped me a lot in my journey to do just that, forgive! (Even if it takes you a minute!)  It is a great book and everyone should read it!

What is a covenant?

So on Monday evenings Sarah and I have Family Home Evening (FHE) and we make a treat as well!!  This week we talked about what are covenant's and what not and she was so funny.  She just kept smiling at me and trying to make me happy thinking she was understanding lol!!!!!  It was so cute and I loved her effort of trying.  So at the end of the lesson she and I both made a promise to Heavenly Father that we were going to try and do something better this week!  Sarah says, "I promise to be super nice this week!"  She has not exactly gotten it perfect yet but she isn't even four, I am so happy that she is trying and she wants to make promises with Heavenly Father!  She was super super excited about the chocolate cookies that we made for a treat, we made no bake cookies last week, but she wanted to make the cookies that Grandpa makes!! HEHE!!  Her Nana is to thank for the awesome lessons that we have to do for FHE!

Between The Lions!

My boss and friend was telling me about a program on PBS called Between the Lions that was helping her son learn to read.  It comes on every week day at 5 PM.  So I have been more focused on Sarah and I playing more vs watching the TV BUT because this show is so amazing everyday when we get home while I start to make dinner she watches Between the Lions and I love that I hear her over in the family room repeating what they say and the sound that a letter makes!  So Sarah's bedtime is 8:15 PM and so during bathtime she tells me all about what letters she saw on Between the Lions and what not!  The funny thing is, when you go to ask her stuff about the letters she wills say I don't know! IT IS SO FUNNY!!!  I love that she is learning more and more about her letters and what not, she isn't reading yet but you know she isn't even 4!!!!!

OCEANS!!!!!

So when Blockbuster was going out of business on Pendleton Pike my dad got Sarah Disneynature's Earth!!  I am totally serious when I say that she loved it!!!!  She wanted to watch it multiple times in a row!  We didn't end up doing that but she has seen it a lot!  So when Ocean's came out on Earth day I thought that Sarah would love love love it!!!  Hmm...I am not sure if she liked it or not!  So we went to the movies to see Ocean's and it was good but she wasn't as into it as she was Earth which made me sad because I paid for the tickets and I didn't with Earth!! LOL!!!!  So still at this point I am not sure if she liked it!

The Last Lecture!

So I am big into reading!!  I just got done reading The Last Lecture!  I cried the entire way through the book, it was so sad to think that this guy was in such great spirits about life in general!  He is just an awesome guy who even until his last couple of months was living life to the fullest!!  I want to be just like that!!  He has inspired me in so many ways just from reading this book and I would tell anyone it is a good read because it is a GREAT read!!!

Jacob William Pond!!!!!!!!

So Saturday was a slow day in the morning and then the afternoon was going to be busy busy busy!!!  So in the morning Sarah and I aren't doing anything, except getting ready for the rest of the day.  Sarah and I played all morning and then all of a sudden I couldn't find her.  I walked to her room and there she was sleeping on her bed all bundled up in her blanket!  Well while she was sleeping I took a shower to get ready for my friends baby shower AND my other friends wedding!!  So I am getting ready and then Lauren tells me that her baby shower was cancelled! (I later found out it wasn't so I felt bad for not going!)  So I start getting ready for my friend Katie's wedding I was super super excited!  I had a cute outfit on my hair was done and I loved my make-up!  So Sarah wakes up and I start to get her ready she had her BEAUTIFUL dress on and we were very excited to go!  We got in the car and we were on our way to Muncie, IN when all of a sudden I get a text message from Lauren saying that her water broke!!!  I was like OMGSH OMGSH!!!!!! So plans changed and I turned around to go be with Lauren!  I made it to the hospital in time and was happy to be with her!!  I missed Brayden's birth by like 15 minutes!!  So I am at the hospital and Brayden needs some medicine and Lauren doesn't want her mom Shirley to leave, so I get asked to do it and I took Tracey with me so she could get her car.  Tracey and I stopped at Walgreens and got Brayden the medicine, took it to him and then Tracey got her car.  I was starving so I stopped at Subway...um probably wasn't the best idea!!  So I got my sandwich and then Tracey followed me to the hospital!  When we got back Lauren was in so much more pain and her contractions were getting closer and closer together...little did I know Lauren would have the baby a hour later!!!!!!!!!!!  It was the coolest thing ever!!  He is so so so so so so adorable!!  He was 5 lbs 10 ounces and 18.5 inches long!!  His name is Jacob William Pond and just oh m y goodness so so so so so adorable!!  He ended up in the NICU, I mean he was a month early, but he is going to be fine, but he will be in there for a little bit!  I was so happy to be there with Lauren who is one of my best friends and her water broke at about 4:30 PM on May 8th and Jacob came at 8:41 PM on May 8th, 2010 and I can just say that I love him so much already and I am so happy Lauren wanted to share this with me!!

St. Louis!!

So a few weeks ago, Sarah and I went on a vacation to St. Louis! We were so blessed on this trip. It just seemed like everything was just falling into place!! The first night we ate at the Hard Rock and it was awesome...until we came out Sarah was running around hit her eye and a few days later she got a black eye!! I was so crushed! I was so sad that my baby now had what people call a shinner! I'm like please don't call her that! Sarah loved the whole experience! She was so excited about the Arch and the zoo. We went to the City Museum, the zoo, turtle park, and the Arch. It was a small trip and not very long but we enjoyed ourselves. Becky came with is and I always enjoy her company, so she was a great addition to our trip!! We can't wait to go on our next little adventure!  The City museum was ok but I don't think I will ever pay to get in there again for my small child...or at least that late at night!!  It was nuts with a bunch of big kids that really didn't care if Sarah was there or not, but you know Sarah didn't care she loved it!!!  The St. Louis Zoo WAS amazing however they didn't have elephants or dolphins!! LAME!  But I guess it is ranked the number one zoo in America...ok!  Turtle park is where we went after the zoo and it was pretty cool!  This is where one of the things that just fell into place for us occured, there weren't any parking spaces left and we were about to leave and just not go when someone else WAS leaving and so we got their spot!! YAY!!!  It was cool these are like MASSIVE turtles and way fun to play on!!  Sarah loved it and she kept talking to the turtles like they could hear her which is ok with me if she has an imagination!!  So that afternoon we went to the Arch and as we get there the tickets were all sold out!!  I almost died!!  I was like I did not come all the way to St Louis (only 4 hours lol) to not take my daughter in the arch!!!!  So we went to the ticket lady and she said we still have some on sale for tomorrow and GUESS WHAT....THEY WERE AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE!!!  So we were in the museum part of it and Sarah got a shirt, a magnet, and a keychain!!  She loves them all.  Even to this day she talks about going to St. Louis!

Mother's Day

Parenting

Well Mother's day was different this year. It is the first one we spent alone without daddy around. Although it was just the two of us and I didn't really get anything it was really the best one ever! When I woke up Sarah was already up, she knew it was Mother's Day because she was told by my and other people in her life. So the first thing my eyes saw when they opened was my little girl in my face and she said, "Happy Mother's Day mommy!" It was the cutest thing ever and made me soooooo happy!!! We spent the morning together and then church was great, Sarah loves going to Sunbeams and she learns so much in primary, and then we went to see one of my best friends who just had her baby the night before! Sarah wasn't able to see him because he is in the NICU, but she came to the hospital to at least see Lauren. Jacob is sooo handsome and Sarah keeps trying to understand why Jacob is not in Lauren's belly anymore! So Mother's day was an amazing day and I am so grateful for my little girl!! She is so wonderful and just her saying Happy Mother's Day to me without being told (that morning) made my whole day!!!!
